Have you ever wanted to simply be able to do more?

Do you want to become a millionaire or maybe lose some weight to finally shed those Christmas kilo’s you still haven’t been able to drop? You’re not alone trust me!

Of course the problem that always arises whenever you want to make those big achievements in life is it’s always very hard to find the motivation to make it really happen. After all there are only so many hours in the day and you get tired.

So How Can You Change That

When you find yourself truly motivated you are less heavily affected by tiredness or lack of time given your levels of motivation will always find a workaround or have the dedication to push on anyway. So to really allow yourself to do more you must find the motivation to push through the pain to achieve more.

How Do You Get More Motivation!

Well one scientist Edwin Locke teaches us that the secret to finding more motivation to drive you to those upper limits is actually goal setting. Without a great reason to drive yourself to those upper limits of your potential you will always find a better reason why you don’t need to. However if you have goals that are clear, measurable, achievable, and something you really want to achieve you will easily find yourself able to push past the reasons why not and find the motivation to overcome.

What Types Of Goals Should I Set To Unlock My Motivation?

To really achieve your true potential through goal setting and motivation you must have both strong short term and long term goals.

Your short term goals must be something you are able to achieve but not without large amounts of effort. Remember we are trying to give you the ability to unlock the best version of yourself and that doesn’t come without its challenges. This goal needs to be something you can achieve in a short period of time, something you can regularly see yourself progressing towards, but also something that isn’t easily achieved. It must be hard enough that when you achieve it you jump up and down shouting “YES I DID IT”. Without this sense of achievement the goal you have set clearly wasn’t challenging enough. At the same time the short term goal must be achievable so you don’t risk setting a goal so hard that you just give up and quit.

Your long term goals must be also part of your big picture. Ask yourself why am I doing this? Your long term goal must have a strong link to this question and be a major milestone towards it. Then when you achieve it you have visible results of you moving towards your vision and ambitions. When you can see yourself nearing your vision nothing will be able to hold you back!

Together these goal types create a linear progression path where you are able to achieve both small and large milestones to enable you to progress towards your final vision. Enabling you to feel progression and achievement these goals also give you massive boosts in motivation. Overtime as you achieve more and more of your goals you will lose the desire to stop as to end the process could mean reverting all of your achievements made thus far. This then creates a greater desire to drive due to a fear of moving backwards.

The Takeaway

In the end what you end up with is someone who is truly motivated to see themselves succeed and truly able to push harder, further, and more able to unlock the upper limits of their ability through unlocking their motivation. This method of goal setting doesn’t just apply to personal development either. You can always apply this to your bank savings, work, routines, and even sleep.
